WAVE, WAVE
Located on the West Bund in Shanghai’s Xuhui District, this project served as the main venue for the second Shanghai International Light Festival. Building upon the “Light and Shadow” theme on the Huangpu River, the team drew inspiration from ocean waves. At the abandoned wharf area, hundreds of LED tubes were woven into undulating “waves of light,” using the natural rhythms of the Huangpu River as a metaphor for the flow of the digital age. “Wave, Wave” translates data and urban pulses through light and shadow, transforming abstract digital landscapes into tangible interweaving hues. It reflects the river’s waters while echoing Shanghai’s digital and intelligent identity. This work is open to the public: a simple wave of the hand triggers a luminous response, inviting visitors to participate in the resonance between nature and technology.
