THE STANDARD, SINGAPORE

The Standard, Singapore aims to be Singapore’s most attractive social club with its bold and quirky nature. It is in close proximity to the buzz of Orchard Road, juxtaposed by the serenity of the Nassim estate and the Botanic Gardens. Our design takes inspiration from the American billboard with a lenticular façade that is static yet expressive, atop a play terrace that reinterprets pop-biophilia with a hidden and immersive courtyard. Arriving at drop-off point, guests are greeted by a reflective ceiling, belying the verdant vegetation nestled inside. A step into the interior, however, transports the guests into an alternative interpretation of pop-biophilia, with a sunken pool-bar check-in that leads the eye towards a series of lushly landscaped stepped sinkhole-shaped platforms in the podium. The secret courtyard allows for various modes of self-expression before peaking at the landscaped pool deck, which forms the nexus of the hotel’s social activities.
