PARK AVENUE CENTRAL (PAC)

In the heart of Shanghai’s dense Jing’An District, Park Avenue Central (PAC) redefines the modern mixed-use precinct as a high-performance “City in Nature.” Developed by Keppel Land and designed by Hassell, the project seamlessly integrates a 180-metre Grade A commercial tower with a vibrant, open-air retail and hospitality landscape. The design masterfully bridges the scale between the soaring skyline and the historic, intimate grain of the neighboring Shikumen housing. By reimagining the traditional Longtang style of winding alleyways and shared spaces, the precinct fosters social connection through an interconnected series of lush terraces, public squares, and native gardens. The architecture utilizes a rich language of varied brickwork to provide textural warmth and dappled light, moving away from the “shopping mall box” toward a porous, civic-focused destination. Sustainability is embedded in PAC’s DNA, achieving WELL Platinum and LEED Gold pre-certifications.
