In the design of Wangyun, achieving a forest garden effect relies heavily on the atmosphere created by plants. However, in the harsh climate of North China, traditional projects often depend on clipped hedges and evergreen shrubs—while ensuring winter greenery, such approaches lack the natural breath and vitality that plants should express. Breaking free from the entrenched notion that northern landscapes are either evergreen all year or desolate in winter became the core challenge.
