The design adopts an overall strategy of “continuing the fabric and precise reconstruction,” guided by the principle of “equal emphasis on preservation and unblocking.” It maintains the original urban fabric while implementing a fully multi-story scheme that combines demolition-reconstruction with partial heightening. While preserving the memory of the place, it injects nature and vitality into the community. By retaining the original layout and traces of age of the buildings, it sustains the neighborhood’s lively, everyday atmosphere and human-scale intimacy. The originally chaotic passageways are reorganized, opening up partial spaces and inserting pocket gardens and micro-plazas, thereby enhancing the fluidity and breathing quality of public spaces. At the same time, convenience facilities such as citizen grocery stores and community activity rooms are introduced, further improving the 15-minute community life circle.
