WUXI APPTEC NANTONG SITE

Located within the Qidong innovation district, in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, China, the project serves as Phase I of the WuXi AppTec Nantong Site, a biopharmaceutical R&D service campus integrating laboratories, research facilities, and supporting functions. Taking open space as its structural framework, the design reinterprets the conventional linear model of industrial parks through a Z-shaped laboratory building and a cluster-based system, establishing a spatial network centered on interaction and collaboration. A central green and multi-layered public interfaces are embedded into daily research activities, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and the flow of knowledge. Balancing operational efficiency with human experience, the project proposes a future-oriented research community, positioning architecture as a spatial medium that connects the city, nature, and innovation.
