SHOUGANG PARK EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE TOWN

This ensemble of exhibition halls and conference centres will serve as the permanent home of CIFTIS, China’s largest trade in services fair. Surrounded and inspired by Shougang Park’s spectacular steel-making industrial heritage, these hangar-scale buildings are robust and expressive. Their simple footprints are laid out to make open spaces of rich characters, from grand arrival squares to sunken courtyards for informal business and leisure. A rust-coloured armature connects all the halls, forming a system of circulation routes, building entrances and picture windows that frame views of industry relics and mountains beyond.
