LAIZHOU DISTILLERY EXPERIENCE CENTER

Located in the historic distilling region of Sichuan, the Bacchus Laizhou Distillery Experience Center is a ecologically responsible development. Instead of a single architectural form, the masterplan avoids clustered volumes into the forest, preserving over 2,000 trees and restoring damaged waterways and historic irrigation networks. Drawing from Sichuan vernacular architecture, deep eaves create shaded grey spaces for passive climate control. The project employs hybrid steel-timber structures and local stone to reduce embodied carbon and transportation impacts, while prefabrication minimizes construction waste. Waste heat from distillery operations supports the hot water system in the hotel. Honored with SITES Gold Certification, the project demonstrates architecture that repairs ecosystems and integrates harmoniously within the living landscape.
