Suhe Meixin Apartment redefines the inherent stereotype of indemnificatory housing and pioneers a new world-class waterfront living model for the central urban area.Extracting design inspiration from modern architectures along the Suzhou Creek, the project remodels the building facade with distinctive Shanghai Art Deco styles. It inherits the vertical linear rhythm of riverside historic structures and incorporates classic Bund architectural elements such as red bricks and round arches. Rich layered decorative lines sculpt the building into an upright and elegant form.Deeply paying tribute to Shanghai’s cultural context, the project delivers an artistic reinterpretation of the industrial memory of historic gas holders. It allows the city’s profound historical heritage to be continued and revitalized in a brand-new residential space.
