FANSHAN CRYSTALLIZATION PONDS

Known as the “Millennium Alum Capital”, Lujiang Alum Mine in Hefei ceased production in 2001 due to industrial decline, leaving abundant industrial relics with damaged ecology and fading historical heritage. Adopting the core strategies of conservation, revitalization, function implantation and renewal, the project fully preserves original landforms, buildings and industrial traces, and creates distinctive scenic spaces with featured materials. It introduces diversified businesses including pit cafes, themed exhibitions and cultural and creative leisure projects, and carries out ecological restoration. The abandoned ruins have been built into a cultural tourism landmark integrating leisure, research and sightseeing, realizing the all-round renewal of cultural inheritance, modern industry integration and ecological restoration.
