SHANGHAI VANKE UNI-CITY
Shanghai Vanke Sky City integrates a 35-hectare site in Qingpu District through TOD principles, creating a three-dimensional urban complex encompassing residential, commercial, office, and waterfront park spaces. The design employs a “landscape megastructure” strategy to heal spaces fragmented by viaducts and waterways, constructing a multi-level pedestrian network (including Green Axis, Light Axis, and 9 pedestrian bridges) to connect metro stations, commercial hubs, and communities. Ecologically, it introduces a “Sky Botanic Garden” system with layered planting of native species to enhance carbon sequestration. Green interventions in viaduct gray spaces and prairie-style roofs over test tracks balance low-maintenance requirements with climate resilience, activating public spaces while providing a sustainable prototype for high-density urban renewal.
