THE RENOVATION OF CHANGZHOU WORKERS’ CULTURAL PALACE
The Workers’ Cultural Palace of Changzhou City is located in Tianning District, Changzhou City. It was once the cultural and commercial center of Changzhou. This project is an important part of the old city area revitalization plan of the Changzhou Municipal Government. The main subjects of the renovation and renewal are the Changzhou Cultural Palace from the 1950s, the auxiliary buildings from the 1980s and the surrounding sites. The total construction area of the project is approximately 30,000 square meters. Within the site, there is the Dacheng Hall of Changzhou Confucian Temple, which is a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit and can be traced back to the Song Dynasty. The redesign of the Workers’ Cultural Palace in Changzhou City responds to its past mission :” A school and paradise for workers.” With the themes of “return”, “continuation” and “integration”, the Cultural Palace area has been reshaped.
