RIGSHOSPITALET NORTH WING

Rigshospital is situated between several urban green spaces in the city of Copenhagen, in close proximity to the University of Copenhagen and the Panum Institute. Together with the neighboring research and educational institutions, the hospital campus forms the “knowledge cluster” concept of the master plan for the area. The new ‘North Wing’ is a complex that better integrates and communicates with the whole area and contributes to the overall urban context. Through a simple deformation of the building form, the buildings are distributed around a major axis and folded into a V-shaped structure, which allows for easy access and flexibility in the arrangement of functions. At the same time this distribution system ensures a good logistic system and at the same time a good orientation for the medical staff and visitors.
