GALLIUM VALLEY SCIENCE PARK
Situated in the core of Cloud Valley in Hangzhou, China, our design introduces a novel office-park model that prioritizes “Communal spaces” across several levels. The design features a tiered arrangement of open areas for users, extending from the central courtyard to assorted break-out spaces. Office floorplates seamlessly transition into these communal zones, inspired by the unique physical state of gallium, which is semi-solid and semi-liquid at room temperature. The concept of “melting” is expressed architecturally through a network of interconnected fissures, cut-outs, terraces, bridges, underpasses, and courtyards, creating fluidity between private workspaces and public communal settings.
