River One Chongqing

With a thorough understanding of the natural topography of the site, we designed a water system that runs through the site, hoping to portray the process of streams in the mountains and forests that gradually converge into a pool and finally flow into the river. Through the transformation of the topography, the water system presents different forms – streams, stacked waterfalls, vertical water curtains, and mirror lakes – while connecting a series of garden spaces with different programs.

While people can fully enjoy the extraordinarily grand river view at home, we hope this close experience with water can be extended to the exterior courtyard, imprinting Chongqing’s landscape fabric onto the living environment at every scale and reflecting the continuum of nature encompassing human activity.
