Bund Financial Center South Mall

After winning the international design competition, Kokaistudios returned to Shanghai’s most exclusive waterfront district and completed a multifaceted interiors project for landmark architecture scheme, Bund Finance Center. Occupying the development’s southern district, Bund Finance Center Mall represented an exciting challenge for Kokaistudios to create interiors that conceptually link to its riverside locale; blur boundaries between inside and out; and above all, support the shopping center’s lifestyle remit. In moving away from the mall’s original objective and towards lifestyle, the team devised overarching themes of beachside vacations, and above all, WATER: 4 above-ground storeys are metaphored as above-sea and 2 under-ground as under-sea spaces.
