
Shanghai One Sino Park
Located in the south of the Huangpu District, Shanghai and adjacent to the Puxi section of the Shanghai World Expo, Shanghai One Sino Park is a building complex that comprises residences, office buildings and commerce. In 2013, GOA was commissioned to design the project’s four high-rise residential buildings in the west, three multi-storey residential buildings in the south, No.11 office tower, No.18 and No.20 office buildings, and a set of multi-storey commercial buildings in the north.
The overall design was complicated by the originally scattered buildings within the site and the inability to adjust the design of two office buildings that are close to the subway due to time constraints. After a comprehensive balance of landscape directions and sunlight conditions, the architect decided to turn the front and back rows of high-rise residential buildings respectively westward and eastward by 45° to form an L-shaped perpendicular relationship.
