Suzhou Folk Music Concert Hall Design

Inspired by the pink wall and black tile, which is a typical architectural vernacular of southern China area, the architects extract the traditional forms from local architecture and integrate them into a contemporary concert hall design. A mix-used cultural complex was created as a platform for cultural exhibition, art communication, public education, and recreation. It not only shows the unique local culture to the visitors to Suzhou, but also provides an active public realm to the citizens of the area. This project integrates architectural, structural, interior, and landscape designs, and creates consistent forms in a broader range. Different floors are connected to the surrounding hill at different levels, so as to provide a constantly transforming and meanwhile continuous experience.
