COHL Foshan Uni-Mall

The retail spaces in COHL Foshan Uni-Mall are complemented by open public spaces, which provide new opportunities for people to come together and interact with the landscape.

A collaboration between ASPECT’s Shanghai and Sydney studios, the design establishes the landscape as the major attraction for the people of Foshan and neighboring cities in Guangdong Province. Spanning 11.2 hectares, the project features retail spaces, integrated transport, natural water ways and open public domains that make it unlike any other mixed-use destination in China. The primary attraction – an integrated children’s water play park, which is operated by COHL and free for entry for the entire city – is a major draw card for family and children to enjoy the space while finding relief from the high south china temperatures.

The public domain is constructed from concrete, local granite and features natural green elements, such indigenous planting of shrubs, trees and palms which provides additional shade to the play and resting areas. It created a people-orientated environment providing multiple opportunities for engagement with the landscape in a number of different ways.
