White Swan Hotel, Guangzhou

The White Swan Hotel is located in the south of Shamian Island, which is a heaven of tranquility amid the hustle and bustle of the city, majestically overlooking the mother river of Guangzhou ——the Pearl River. Opened in 1983, White Swan Hotel was jointly developed by Mr. Henry Fok Ying Tung and Guangdong government. It is the first five-star hotel in mainland China that demonstrates the success of the reform and opening-up policy. It also ranks first in the country on many other aspects, making itself well-known both at home and abroad. Because of its long history and cultural value, it becomes an important historical mark deeply rooted in the heart of local citizens.

As the world’s major hotel brands are entering in China’s high-end hotel market, the White Swan Hotel is facing great challenges. Standing at a new historical starting point, to break through, innovate, reform and continue to lead the high-end starred hotel market in Guangzhou is the purpose of our design.

As a classic landscaping work of Lingnan style, the White Swan Hotel has successfully combined the local cultural features with the spirit of the times, creating a leisurely atmosphere without losing the elegant cultural connotations.

The design has retained White Swan Hotel’s classic characteristics and increased some high-end modern elements to upgrade the leisurely and elegant environment, to present the charm of traditional Lingnan style and to keep pace with the modern society. The renovated hotel has met the people’s requirements for high-grade enjoyment, and the once charming “swan”has regained its beauty and elegance!
