Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel

The project is located in Beijing Wangfujing commercial area, formerly known as Beijing’s famous Wangfujing Hotel. The hotel features a distinctive bi wings architecture which is like an open book, with one side towards the mysterious ancient Forbidden City, and another side to hustle and bustle of Wangfujing Street. Wangfujing Street is Beijing’s most famous commercial area, and also an important place displaying the old Beijing culture heritage. Based on “The courtyard landscape spirit” and “the hidden world temperament”, DDON design team echoes through the most traditional courtyard style and busy streets of old Beijing, then makes use of the characteristics of the architecture to build a ” Courtyard Dwellings” with accessible sight-view and independent space. As for the details, the designers abandon the traditional symmetric spatial relations, and use the large volume of the free combination of square elements to highlight the balancing effect of the overall space, breaking the routine ceremonial space feature.
