The 8th Awards Album - Future Trends in Real Estate Design

Written in July, 2022

In 2021, China’s real estate industry experienced a memorable year. Pressured by various factors, the rapid and extensive development model of real estate was put on pause. While short-term pains were inevitable, it marked the beginning of a new era for China’s real estate sector in the long run. Over the next five to ten years, the real estate industry will still maintain a scale of over ten trillion yuan. Improvement-oriented demand will gradually dominate, regional differentiation will intensify further, and the market will shift from seller-oriented to buyer-oriented. Product competitiveness will be the main theme, and the industry will transition from prioritizing efficiency to prioritizing stability.

In the later stage of urbanization, real estate enters a new stage of development, with changes in the main customer groups and lifestyles. Real estate design needs continuous improvement to adapt to future changes. In the future, aesthetic and practical designs are basic requirements, emphasizing the shaping of project characteristics, and focusing on the sustainability of the entire lifecycle. Levels of intelligence, health, low carbon, and environmental protection need to be further enhanced to secure a place in future competition.
