Professor Nat Chard
Professor Nat Chard’s teaching has concentrated on research-based studio teaching and related PhD supervision (almost all his PhD students are undertaking design-based PhDs).He has also taught history and theory as well as technology courses, yet his greater interest is in how these areas relate. The manifestation of this interest has been in lecture series inserted in both fields as well as ones related to studio.
His research has concentrated on areas where explicit knowledge does not reach and has looked at ways in which apparatus can be invented to articulate issues of personal knowledge.
Nat is an ARB registered architect who practiced as an architect for several years before he started teaching. He has also held professorships in Denmark and Canada.
