XUELEI FRAGRANCE MUSEUM
XUELEI FRAGRANCE MUSEUM is conceived as a public cultural space centered on smell—an intangible sense that cannot be directly visualized. Lighting therefore operates as a sensory translation system rather than a visual spectacle. Through precise control of brightness, contrast, color temperature, and spatial rhythm, illumination subtly corresponds to the intensity, volatility, and emotional qualities of scent. The lighting strategy remains deliberately restrained, prioritizing indirect and concealed sources to guide movement, regulate pacing, and support memory without overpowering olfactory perception. A layered and programmable system integrates ambient, accent, and interactive lighting to accommodate changing exhibitions and visitor flows. Continuous luminous lines and softly curved light planes reinforce the museum’s circular spatial logic, creating an immersive yet balanced environment where light recedes from dominance and enables a multisensory experience led by scent.
