URBAN RENEWAL AND TANSFORMATION OF WEIHAI OLD PORT
Weihai Port was first built in 1918. After the old port was relocated in 2013, the original port area covering approximately 11.38 hectares was left idle. In 2020, Weihai launched the urban renewal plan for the old port area, aiming to transform the abandoned port zone into a modern waterfront public space integrating culture, leisure and tourism.Guided by the core concept of “Living with Water, Renewing with History”, the project is designed to be Weihai’s “Urban Living Room”. It blends historical heritage with modern functions, serving as an important link connecting mountains, sea, islands and the city, while improving the quality of urban living and enhancing tourism appeal.
