THE FRAGRANT HILLS OPUS

The Fragrant Hill Opus is located in Beijing’s Three Mountains and Five Gardens area, with an ultra-low plot ratio of 1.05. All buildings are four-story structures, constituting a rare low-density development. The site maintains a strategic proximity to the mountains – neither too distant nor directly adjacent – achieving seamless integration between architecture and nature. The architectural facade references Song Dynasty aesthetics, employing six design techniques: conceptual imagery, form, color harmony, poetic essence, cultural temperament, and negative space. The roof features dragon-scale patterned tiles inspired by traditional nine-ridged halls, creating an Eastern-style rooftop . Custom-designed fish motifs enhance the design with auspicious symbolism of “a carp leaping through the dragon gate” and “steady ascension”. The southern facade innovatively incorporates celadon-glazed ceramic panels emulating Ru kiln craftsmanship, integrating traditional cultural elements.
