SHANGHAI PHARMA: SHANGHAI WUTONG ISLAND LAB

The Wutong Island Life Science Research Institute occupies Levels 5 and 6 of Building 1 within the Shanghai Frontier Biopharmaceutical Industry Innovation Center, with a total gross floor area of approximately 5,800 sqm. The project aims to create an innovative life science research platform defined by a strong community atmosphere, a green, healthy environment, and the ability to attract top talent. Aligned with the park’s vision as a global incubation hub, the design adopts a people-oriented approach, integrating the biopharmaceutical industry while fostering a collaborative, community-based research ecosystem. The spatial strategy explores emerging international research models, moving beyond traditional laboratory layouts to support flexible, efficient, and interactive work. It provides a forward-looking environment enabling high-performance research while encouraging communication, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration among the next generation of scientists.
