MOYE ANJI HOMESTAY DESIGN

Muyeanji Homestay is nestled deep in the mountains of Anji County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The original building was roughly oriented from north to south, resulting in an initial east-facing direction that contradicted the optimal scenic orientation of the site (northeast). This discrepancy serves as one of the primary motivations for the project’s renovation. The overall design strategy involves: selectively rotating the orientation of certain rooms based on their original characteristics (such as width, depth, and location) to enable views of the distant valley; while leaving some rooms unaltered to enhance the direct exposure to the eastern “cliffside” scenery; and for underground spaces, creating an immersive experience of a secluded, emerald-green retreat amidst the bamboo grove.
