ASTRAZENECA R&D SHANGHAI

AstraZeneca’s Shanghai Jing’an Global R&D China Centre meeting floor expansion is a spatial innovation project centred on zero-carbon workplace practice. Designed as a responsive, low-carbon workplace ecosystem, the project embeds energy-harvesting flooring, human-powered meeting bikes, a carbon data platform, smart lighting and air quality monitoring into everyday workplace scenarios. Through walking, movement and collaboration, employees can participate in clean energy generation, while real-time data makes environmental performance visible and understandable. Flexible meeting and training settings, natural materials and biophilic design support the evolving needs of R&D teams, while enhancing comfort, wellbeing and daily interaction. By systematically integrating sustainable technology, wellbeing strategies and flexible collaboration settings, the project establishes a visible, participatory and operational green workplace benchmark.
