ZIKAWEI LIBRARY

ZIKAWEI LIBRARY faces the Xujiahui Church Square and is adjacent to the Xujiahui Cathedral. The building spans approximately 15,000 square meters, with three above-ground floors, each 6 meters high. The central space of the building extends through all three floors, creating a cathedral-like atmosphere. The interior has no visible structural elements, as the bookshelves serve part of the structural framework. Functional spaces are arranged around the atrium, housing bookshelves and cultural activity rooms. Each floor features outdoor galleries on the side facing the church square, offering unique views of the cathedral. There are two underground levels, primarily used for cultural activity facilities and a parking garage. The building employs traditional local facade materials and an appropriate colonnade design, visually establishing a spatial connection with the surrounding historic buildings.
